stress-free during exams

With board exams right around the corner, kids all over the nation are stressing on how to achieve a good score in the exam. And the pressure is not only from the parent’s side but sometimes, a student’s peers also lead to a lot of pressure.

If you think that this stress is healthy for kids and is going to fade away after the exams then you are wrong. You would be surprised to know that this exam-stress is not periodic and often results in the beginning stage of dementia and other brain-related diseases. As we all know, it is very important to keep stress away for a healthy state of mind and hence, it is even more important to not let the exam-stress get anywhere near your kid.

Therefore, here are some tips to keep ‘exam-stress’ away from your kids:

Achieve, don’t over-achieve

You must teach your kid to achieve but over-achieve which means always teach them to target and pursue short goals instead of the big ones. Once kids are taught to pursue short term goals, it will be easy for them to achieve and will also motivate them to go for more.

Play time

Sacrificing a kid’s leisure time for making him/her study more for the board-exams is of no use. It will only repel your kid from the studies and nothing more. A kid must be allowed to stretch his/her limbs in a park or playground for ensuring a healthy mental and physical state. Letting your kid play will surely decrease the amount of stress which is being piled up in his/her brain.

Prioritize sleep

Sleep is extremely important for a healthy mind. If your kid is in a habit of staying up till late night for studying then you must ask him/her to compensate the day hours for sleeping. Sufficient amount of sleep is very important for better learning process and less stress.

Parent’s stress

When we were a kid, our parents were pressuring us to score good whereas our friends pressured us to bunk classes and enjoy the precious teenage. However, none of them were wrong from their point of view. Now imagine what all your kid has to go through during this age. Therefore, try not to put any more pressure on your kid for a better mental health and less stress levels.

Mistakes are good

Kids commit a lot of mistakes, some of which are extremely embarrassing also. Hence, you must teach your kid to learn from his/her mistake instead of de-motivating themselves for the rest of their lives. It is very important to teach your kid how to deal with mistakes and failure. This will not only decrease the stress levels but will encourage them to do more mistakes and learn even more from them (which is the correct approach of living life).

Nursing a kid or two is one of the most difficult jobs in this world for the simple reason that there is no book of conduct to follow but only a never-ending approach will help. Stay positive and patient while parenting kids. Stay tuned for more lifestyle related updates
